Frequently Asked Questions

Is it really a free service, it seems too good to be true?

Yes, the service is completely free, there are no hidden fees whatsoever! At Greenlight Cartridge Recycling we believe that to encourage people to recycle and help protect our planet, we should be offering our first class service TOTALLY free of charge to everyone. Hopefully by doing this, we will all be contributing to a beautiful and clean environment for our future generations to enjoy in the coming years.

What kind of cartridges do you collect?

We collect just about any original inkjet and laser toner cartridges. We are at present working through the different ranges of photocopier toners and are able to recycle most Ricoh, Kyocera, Oki, Samsung and certain Xerox, Canon and Konica Minolta cartridges and we hope to be able to recycle toners from across all manufacturers in the near future.

Can you accept compatible cartridges?

Unfortunately due to the high number of unrecycleable toners in circulation and the high cost of responsible disposal of these items, we have had to make the necessary decision to stop accepting these kind of toner cartridges. We do however, continue to accept Original OEM toners and inkjets along with our own Greenlight Cartridge brand of cartridges as part of our Greenlight 360 supply and recycling service. Please contact us if you are unsure of the recycling status of your printers cartridges.

Can you accept the waste toner containers?

Unfortunately we are unable to accept these back as we don’t class them as printer cartridges and are unable to recycle them.

Is there a minimum collection quantity?

We have no minimum quantity as we will be collecting from lots of businesses in your area on a regular basis to ensure that we offer an excellent service to our customers. We will stop by and take whatever you have ready for us, even if it’s just a handful.

Do we call you when we need a collection?

We appreciate the fact that people are really busy in their everyday job so we take all of the hassle away from you having to chase collections. We will advise you of the date that we will be next in your area when you first come on board and thereafter, we then arrange collection dates around your individual business requirements. Should you require a collection in the meantime simply call either 01226 781868, 07799 574423 or 07765 714100 or drop us a line via the ‘Your FREE collections’ page and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible to arrange your collection, and we will be with you within 48 hours.

Do you supply boxes or bags for us to store our used cartridges ?

Yes we do! we supply bags, boxes or both FREE of charge to safely store your cartridges in until collection.

Are you authorised to remove waste from our premises?

Yes we are. Greenlight Cartridge Recycling are registered as waste carriers with the Environmental Agency who regulate the removal and transfer of waste in the UK. We will ensure that a copy of our Environment Agency certificate of registration is sent promptly for you to file when you first come onboard.

Do you supply duty of care waste transfer documentation?

Yes. Shortly after each collection you will receive a waste transfer note via email to confirm that the waste has been removed from your premises. These documents are fully compliant with ISO14001 environment standard and contain the latest legal requirements for The Waste Hierarchy Regulation 12 of the Waste regulations (England & Wales 2011) and Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes. We are aware of some companies issuing Waste Transfer Notes that are non compliant with The Environment Agency legislation so please check that they contain the latest requirements to ensure that your business is correctly covered. Greenlight can also issue a  paper copy of our fully compliant Waste Notes if required, though we encourage customers to consider the environment before requesting a hard copy.

Will we really get a waste Transfer document after each collection ?

Yes! We know many collection companies only issue a ‘season ticket’ duty of care document once per year but at Greenlight we believe that we should act in our customers best interest and ensure that all waste documentation is readily available for internal or external audits. With this in mind we will ensure that these documents are sent to you normally within 24 hours of EACH AND EVERY collection.

Which Charities do Greenlight support and how do you help them ?

We are proud to support The Leeds and Wakefield District RSPCA, Macmillan Cancer Support, The British Heart Foundation, and other local good causes through individual donations as well as in association with our numerous recycling partners who themselves donate substantial amounts of money to various charities across the UK. We also post the ‘letters of thanks’ that we receive from the charities on ‘our charities’ page to keep everyone informed of our fundraising as well as annual updates via email.

Are you registered with the charities that you raise funds for?

Yes we are. Greenlight Cartridge Recycling are authorised fundraisers with all of our major charities and all of our collection team carry letters of authorisation with them to prove our authenticity. All collection companies should be able to demonstrate this and if unsure it is recommended that you contact the relevant charities for verification before allowing any collector on site. Unfortunately it has come to our attention that collections are being made in our areas by individuals who are not properly supporting the charities they claim to be collecting on behalf of. Greenlight Cartridge Recycling make regular donations to our fantastic charities and we keep customers informed of our fundraising efforts through updates and the posting of all ‘Letters of thanks’ that we receive from the charities to authenticate our fundraising to business.

Are you local to us?

We are based between Barnsley and Wakefield, just off the M1 motorway which enables us to easily serve the counties of Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, and Lincolnshire.
